Three Swans Classic Tour 2025

REGULATIONS

ORGANISATION


  1. Selby and District Motor Club will stage the Three Swans Classic Tour on Sunday 22nd June 2025.  The route is approximately 120 miles through scenic North Yorkshire including the Moors. Navigation by way of 'tulip' diagrams with a road book provided as well as map references for junctions, should you want to plot the route on a map.    We may use any of the following Maps 99, 100 & 105.  The final maps to be used will be clarified in the Final Instructions.
  1. The event will be held under a Certificate of Exemption issued by MotorsportUK, these Regulations and any written instructions that may be issued for the event. The MotorsportUK Permit/Certificate of Exemption for this event is No. TBC .  
  1. The first car will leave at 10 a.m. followed at 1 min intervals by the other cars.  The starting order will be indicated in the Final Instructions.

VEHICLE ELIGIBILITY

  1. This event is open to all historic and classic vehicles of make and model manufactured prior to 1991. This includes any car after that date if the same make and model continued in manufacture after 1991. (as per. HRCR rules).  However should entries still be available and you would like to join us for a nice day out then please enter in what ever car you please but preferably something interesting.

VEHICLES

  1. All vehicles should be presented in good condition; the Organisers reserve the right to decline any vehicle showing damage. Each vehicle must be taxed for the road and have a valid MOT Certificate - if applicable which is the responsibility of the car owner.
  1. Participating vehicles will be identified by a Rally Plate, supplied by the Organisers. This should be displayed in a prominent forward-facing position on the front of the vehicle. The Organisers reserve the right to exclude any vehicle which, in their opinion, is unsuitable for participation in the Tour.
  1. Vehicles must not carry any competition numbers anywhere on the vehicle.

INSURANCE

  1. All entrants must ensure that their car has adequate insurance to enter the event. This being a Touring Assembly with a MSUK Exemption Certificate, their Public Liability Policy covers the event.  However, this does not cover vehicle insurance under the Road Traffic Acts. A standard motor car policy may well cover the use of the car on a public highway. If in doubt, please seek advice from your insurance company.

ENTRIES

  1. Entries open on publication of these Regulations and close on 15th June 2025 or before if the maximum number of entries is met.  The entry fee of £45 includes one Road Book, one souvenir Rally Plate, Coffee or Tea at the start and finish and a light lunch for two people.  Any profits we make organising this event will go straight to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
  1. Please advise the Entries Secretary by email if you need to advise us of any special dietary requirements.

The maximum number of entries will be 60. Should we get oversubscribed we will create a reserve list.  If you are on the reserves list please do not pay your entry fee until a place is confirmed.  In the unlikely event of the Tour being cancelled we will hold your entry and issue a new date.

  2. You need to register with the website if you have not already done so, to gain access to the entry form. You do not need to be a member of any specific club.  Once you have completed your entry form you will be given the details to enable a BACS payment for your entry fee.  Please use your entry number as reference for your BACS payment. Your entry is not complete until payment is made.

Just in case we need to contact you urgently please take care to give us accurate email and mobile details for both driver and navigator.  Your confirmation of entry, Final Instructions and any other communications will be sent by email to the navigator unless you request otherwise by email to the Entries Secretary.

If you find any difficulty with any of this please call the Entries Secretary once you have made your entry.

DOCUMENTATION

  1.  Car and crew should arrive at the Start – no earlier than 9am and- no later than 45 minutes before their due start time. Specific start times will be notified in the final instructions.  Tea or Coffee and biscuits will be available at the start and finish where you can mingle with the other competitors and their cars.
  1. Signing On will take place at Onsite from 9am until 10:15am any further instructions, your Road Book, Rally Plate and Coffee and Tea and Lunch vouchers etc.
  1. No Competition licence or club card is required to take part in this event.
  1. Parking for signing on and on your return to the finish, please park as directed by the Marshals.

ROUTE

  1. The route will cover approximately 120 miles on asphalt roads, with directions in an easy to follow 'Tulip diagram' format. The lunch stop is after approx 60 miles but any opportunities prior to that to use toilets or get refreshments or fuel will be pointed out on the route instructions.
  1.  Whilst we do want competitors to enjoy this tour we do ask that they enter into the spirit of this type of event and do not use it as a speed test. 

The route takes in lots of country roads, narrow lanes etc. and we ask you to be mindful of other road users, particularly cyclists, horse riders and walkers.  Please adhere to the Highway Code and please avoid driving in convoys!

In the road book we will give you a suggested average speed to get to the halfway or finish by your expected arrival time.  We don't want to damage the reputation of Selby and District Motor Club or motor clubs in general.  

When it comes to villages where the most disruption is caused please drive through them at 20 mph. 

  1.  There will be Observers throughout the route to check that you actually follow the correct route, but

also to check driving standards. Any reckless or unacceptable driving will result in disqualification

from this event, and any future events run by Selby and District Motor Club.

  1. EQUIPMENT

Please be equipped with a full tank of fuel, a clipboard, watch, the ordnance survey maps (just in case) and for your convenience a distance trip app on your phone.
